Our Story
About TheEyeOpener
“To open eyes to stories that might otherwise go untold — with clarity, independence, and truth.”
Who We Are
TheEyeOpener is a media and public relations organisation based in Freetown, Sierra Leone. We cover the stories that shape the country — from the corridors of Parliament to the streets of the provinces — and we do it without fear or favour.
Founded on the belief that Sierra Leoneans deserve a press that works for them, we bring together journalists, editors, and communicators with deep roots in the country and the diaspora.
What We Cover
- Politics & Government — Parliamentary proceedings, policy decisions, and governance
- Business & Economy — Market trends, corporate developments, and economic analysis
- Sports — Local and international sporting events and athlete profiles
- Lifestyle & Culture — Arts, entertainment, and cultural features
- Technology — Tech trends and digital transformation in West Africa
- Editorial — Opinion and analysis from Sierra Leone's thought leaders
Our Editorial Standards
Every story we publish is verified before it goes out. We name our sources where we can, protect them where we must, and correct the record publicly when we get something wrong. Commercial relationships never influence our editorial decisions — sponsored content is always clearly marked.
Independence
We answer to our readers. No advertiser, political party, or outside interest shapes what we publish.
Accountability
We report on those in power because the public has a right to know. That principle is non-negotiable.
Community
Our journalists are Sierra Leoneans. We live the stories we cover and we understand what they mean to the people affected.
